The Role: Cook

Reporting to: Head Chef

Location: Tunbridge Wells

Contract: Permanent – Part Time 24 hours per week

Salary: £8.75 per hour

Key Relationships: Kitchen Team, F&B Team, Head Chef and General Manager

Scope:

We will look to you to ensure the smooth support of a committed kitchen brigade within an exceptional village by supporting the Head Chef and his team in their duties. You will set a good example within a small, committed, empathetic and efficient team. You will take pride in your work by paying particular attention to the detail for our owners and customers who expect the finer things in life.

In addition, you will also work alongside the Head Chef To prepare and present high-quality dishes delivering an excellent customer experience with the key aim of retaining and attracting new customers whilst adhering to all health & hygiene and company legislation.

The Role:

* To carry out all aspects of preparation and presentation of food as per the daily menu and in line with agreed recipes
* To ensure that food is presented and served in a clean and hygienic environment
* To undertake cleaning of all catering areas including the cleaning of ovens, fridges, freezers etc.
* To complete the necessary temperature control sheets as directed by the Head Chef or his designated Sous Chef or the General Manager
* To wear the correct company uniform always and to ensure that it is clean, well pressed and in good repair
* To regularly rotate all food stocks ensuring “best before” and “use by dates” are observed
* To attend training, complete statutory e-learning, follow supervision requests and attend assessment programmes as may be required
* As instructed, to record any deliveries of food and or other produce received
* To communicate any identified risks or potential risks to the Head Chef or Facilities & Maintenance Team
* To report any incident, accident or dangerous occurrence, including ‘near misses’ to the Facilities Manager or Head Chef
* To use equipment as instructed and report immediately any breakdowns. To be aware of the importance of not placing others or yourself at risk.
* To participate in a work rota including evenings and weekends as required and as agreed
* To use the correct cleaning products and or equipment/appliances as instructed by the manufacturers or cleaning providers
* To follow COSHH regulations in respect of any cleaning or chemical products used within the kitchen including use of appropriate PPE
* To assist with open days, and other events and themed activities/days as required
* To abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act, Food Safety Act, Electricity at Work Act and any other relevant legislation. To participate and organise risk assessments for all applicable areas.

Qualifications & Experience:

* Experience in a similar role
* Experience dealing with customers on a warm and empathetic basis
* Committed to delivering an exceptional customer service
* Excellent communication skills, including listening and professional communication
* Self motivated and driven by standards of food quality as well as cleanliness
* The ability to prioritise and work on their own initiative
