SUMMARY OF OVERALL ROLE:
This role is very diverse in its duties. It is a fully
autonomous position with overall responsibility for managing the
day to day running of a luxury chalet. The candidate will be
responsible for chefs budgets, staff rotas and supervising chalet
inventories at the beginning and end of the season. There will be
regular liaison with the chalet owners both over e-mail and on the
telephone. The role includes everything from regular quality
controls of chalet standards including health & hygiene checks
and budgets whilst providing the staff with support and any
necessary training. This role requires total involvement and
pro-activity to ensure the chalets are run efficiently and
effectively so as to exceed guests’ expectations.You will be
responsible for organising stores deliveries to the Chalet with the
Ops team. You may also be called upon to drive guests on
occasion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be responsible for the management of one
prestigious property , plus supporting four chalet staff and
ensuring that Meriski guests have an enjoyable and stress free
holiday that exceeds their expectations. You are also
responsible for ensuring that the chalet is looked after and
returned to the owners at the end of the season in a satisfactory
condition.
Your hours will vary depending on the needs of the chalet
staff and guests. You will be entitled to one and a half days off a
week and time off during the day. The Manager is responsible
for planning staff rotas. You will be responsible for completing
stock control forms and other paperwork when required and for
liaising with the Operations Manager to ensure deliveries are
correctly received.
You will need to hold regular meetings with chalet team to
address any chalet issues or training needs. You will be
responsible for producing detailed reports of all items consumed
each week in the chalet and liaising promptly with the UK Office
Manger on these. You will be responsible for arranging lift passes,
ski schools, massages and other extras as required by your guests
and invoicing and taking payment for these as
appropriate.
You will be the face of Meriski and first point of contact
for any guest problems or should guests wish to talk to you about
any aspects of their chalet or holiday.
You will need to have a detailed knowledge of the
property, taking part in the handover with the Chalet Guardian at
the beginning and end of the season, thereby learning what is
required by both owners and Meriski. You will need to ensure
that the chalet’s inventories are created at the start of the
season and again at the end, with any replacements or maintenance
required reported.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
This role is demanding and diverse and therefore requires the individual have significant experience in working in a supervisory chalet role, or a similar role in the wider hospitality industry. You will need to be a dedicated, self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. In addition having a great deal of flexibility and “can do” attitude the following key skills are required for this role:
- Previous supervisory experience in chalets, or in the wider hospitality industry
- Outstanding customer service experience
- Full, clean driving license- winter / ice driving experience advantageous.
- Spoken French advantageous

Season Dates
The season runs from the beginning of December through to the end
of April. Staff should be available for the whole of this period,
although occasionally positions do become available during this
time. Our first guests arrive mid December, and prior to this,
staff are given full in-resort training and resort
familiarisation.
